Got Cellulite? Me Too
Picture this, you’re standing in front of your mirror with your favorite pair of Fashion Nova jean shorts on. Ya know the ones that make your butt look real real good. While you’re admiring yourself your eyes drift down to your waist, curve around your butt, and just as your eyes make their way down to where your thighs meet your ass, you see it... a big, lumpy dimple in the side of your thigh, completely killing your vibe.
Actual photo of my vibe being Killed!
I know I’m not the only one that has experienced this before, Health.com agrees with me.
“The cosmetic condition (cellulite) affects nearly 90% of women at some point during their lives, even women who are otherwise slender and fit.”
Before I get too deep, lets define cellulite shall we: cellulite is described as a condition in which the skin has a dimpled, uneven appearance, typically found on butts and thighs.
Now there is a key piece of the statistic from Health.com that I want you to pay close attention to.
Even women who are otherwise “slender and fit” struggle with cellulite. I cannot count how many times I thought to myself “If only I was 15 pounds lighter, if only I was as skinny as my friends.” Ladies don’t be afraid to admit it. We all have our own little insecurities and corks, however knowledge is power and will be your saving grace.
Shira Ein-Dor, owner of the American Cellulite Reduction Center in New York City, shared that she has even treated Victoria's Secret models.
"They're very lean, they work out and eat well, they do everything right but they still have cellulite." says Shira.
I don’t know about you, but that quote was a game changer for me! While doing research for this post I found over 15 different myths and facts about cellulite, lets take a look at a few:
Myths
Liposuction will make the cellulite in your arms, thighs and butt look better.
Skin firming creams can cure cellulite.
Cellulite only happens to out of shape people.
Loosing weight will make cellulite disappear.
Facts
There are many treatments available but most are temporary.
Cellulite is not fat, but rather dimples and bumps that are seen when fat is divided into tiny pockets in the skin.
A plant heavy diet can help fight cellulite, for example foods like cucumbers, radishes, tomatoes, and bell peppers.
There is no permanent cellulite solution.
So as we can see there are a select few things that can be done to reduce cellulite, but for the most part shit happens and everyone has a dimple or two. Love yourself my queens, every inch of your imperfectly perfect body deserves it.
